Look of the day - Andiamo

Today has been a really exciting day and I am feeling super blessed! Like I said in my last post we went to one of my favorite early dinner spots Andiamo for some pizza and wine followed by watching a perfect sunset (btw mike is doing a 365 sunset project over on instagram if you want to check it out and follow!). Sometimes we dont stop to appreciate the little things in life that can actually turn out to make you the happiest.

I also worked on some really cool ideas for my next few videos including something extra special for my next Valentines day outfit idea video which I will hopefully get to film this week.

I also have a fab competition to tell all you SA ladies about! I have had such a crazy busy day I am happy that I actually have some time to post! :) I cant believe the first month of the year is almost gone and I feel like I have been in Cape Town forever. The one thing I will be missing a lot this year is our yearly Valentines day trips to Italy which I have come to love but unfortunately we cant just hop on a plane for an hour plane ride to a romantic Italian destination! It will be missed but hopefully we can go to Paris soon as that is where I wanted to go for Valentines day this year if we were still living in Malta!

Look of the day - Painted Pink

It really feels to me that this post would have been more suited for Friday and Friday's post would be better off called blue Monday right? Today is definitely blue in Cape Town as our heatwave comes to an end with some rain, not that I am complaining as it makes a nice change and I am still wearing short sleeves :)

Berry Love {Sleek Makeup}

I have been wearing a lot of berry colors, not only on my lips but cheeks as well so I was so excited and happy when I received a package from Sleek Makeup yesterday with their Berry collection! The set contains Fenberry blush, a kohl pencil in Mossberry and a true colour lipstick in Cranberry!

I couldn't wait to play around so I created this look which uses all the delicious berry colors without looking harsh and giving them a fresh glow!

Look of the day - Heatwave

The current heatwave we are experiencing in Cape Town might be great for wearing shorts and loose vests and making little afternoon missions to the beach but wow it has been really draining. There is something about heat that just makes me want to go for naps all the time! I have been wearing my Bourjois in Prune Caresse quite a lot and even though it might be considered a typical winter shade I think it looks fab for anytime especially paired with some dramatic liner!

I absolutely adore my new sequin shorts! It reminds me of confetti and it is seriously like having your own little party while wearing them! I paired them with a neutral top and my bright pink blazer and heels for a super fun look!

I wore the outfit to the new park in Greenpoint where we went to take some photos and then to the Cape quarter where we found this bright red garage door. I just couldn't resist posing in front of it making quite a cool Valentines day type look!

This weekend I got some lovely bright and fun pieces for my wardrobe! The holidays might be over but that doesn't mean my wardrobe has to be depressing. I bought some lovely tomato red (such a flattering color) skinny jeans and cute confetti sequin shorts from the Lookbookstore on ebay and both are just amazing! They are versatile and fun and both fit really really well!

Then I also got a stunning gold skirt which I cant wait to pair up with a silky white top and two tops from Mr Price that were just such a bargain! Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! xx

Look of the day - Leopard Bar

It might have been Friday the 13th yesterday but I had a lovely lucky day topped off with some sundowners at the stunning 12 Apostles hotel at their leopard bar (Go there for amazing Italian strawberry mojitos on a sunny Friday afternoon!).
It was raining the whole of yesterday and then suddenly the clouds moved away and revealed a perfect late afternoon!

I spent this morning going to the post office to pick up some awesome goodies I cant wait to show you all as well as having a lovely breakfast and a walk on the beach. Perfect start to a hopefully perfect weekend. xx

Look of the day - Mountain View

After doing some shopping and having a coffee at Vida E Cafe we found an amazing vantage point to see the whole of Camps Bay and Clifton from. The views from up there are amazing and endless and you can even see our apartment!

The wind was blowing a bit and I had some fun making my scarf fly around, thank goodness I didn't let go or it might have ended up in the ocean :) I also bought some new makeup, not much but a new foundation as well as some goodies from essence which I think is such a cool affordable brand. I will probably show the goodies in a haul on my youtube channel this week if you are interested in seeing them.

Bag Diaries

1. I always carry around some type of jewelry, I am not sure why but I am forever taking things off while out and about and they inevitibily land up in the bottom of my bag only to be found later (after searching for ages!)

2. Lipstick is a must have in my handbag! I usually forget to pack in my Hello Kitty mirror so don't be surprised if you ever see me touching up my lipstick in car window reflections or other strange places!

3. I have a lot of hair and sometimes it gets in my way (ok most of the time) I always have some kind of headband or elastic band in my bag.

4. My big camera doesn't fit into most of my bags so it usually hangs over my shoulder but my cute little Nikon coolpix vlogging camera is smaller than your average phone and goes everywhere! (Oh and btw you must be wondering where my phone is... Long story short, phones are not at the top of my list so it is about 100 years old, yes exaggeration for the sake of effect, and will not be making an appearance on my blog now or ever. :P )

5. Dior powder? I cant live without powder, its hot here, enough said.

6. I am constantly wearing these sunglasses, I either gave away or more likely broke all my other ones so you see these ALL THE TIME. My mom said its time for a new pair (or two) so watch this space, in a few weeks I might be sporting a different pair!

7. My nine west wallet has been with me through thick and thin (mostly thick but not in the way you are thinking) It has been my place to stash, and I really mean stash, loads of slips! I cant seem to throw them away and only after months when I have already worn the clothes and ate the food do I feel secure in the knowledge that I will not be needing them again. Must come from bad experiences right?

Look of the day - Muted Summer

Do you ever feel like its so hot no matter how bright the colors are that you are wearing they still feel muted? That is exactly how I feel today, as if I am living in a hot buzzing haze! Malta got hot but nothing compares to Africa when it feels like unleashing some heat. Best thing to do (other than jump in a freezing cold shower every few minutes) is to wear nice loose fitting clothing. I dont think anyone would actually want to wear something super fitting as they might turn into their own personal swimming pool, and not in a good way.

In good news we bought a car today! We have been without one since moving here in November and having a bit of freedom is a great feeling!xx

Happy Monday! I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend! Mine was filled with loads of cardio! Yes you heard right, I went to the gym twice this weekend and even though it was super tiring it felt amazing to be at the gym and active again. It is really one of the things I truly missed when we were living in Malta.

Last night we watched the final three episodes of the most recent season of Dexter and if you love the show like I do you know why I am going to say OMW! It was a crazy season finale and now I just want more... At least Vampire Diaries and Secret circle have started again so my evenings wont be to empty :P

New in - Leopard Print & Beetlejuice

We headed off to the shops and the gym today and i bought some goodies I have been wanting for a while! I have seen similar cardigans online and when I found one without having to worry about shipping I was super happy! I also found a skirt that is very similar to the one from Zara that everyone has except me and that I always wanted! YAY :) The black and white skirt is something I had to think about but after my cousin said it reminded her of Beetlejuice I had to have it :P

I also took a photo from our apartment to show you all how crazy the beaches were today! I hate going to the beach when it is crazy full so I think I will wait for the schools to start and all the tourists to head back home before I venture down there! :)

I love the fresh feeling of wearing white especially on a hot summer day! These photos were taken just before we went to the gym (for my first workout in ages, OUCH!) and we actually wanted to take photos on the other side of the road with the sea in the background but with the mid afternoon glare it just wasn't possible! We will definitely go back for some early morning shots though.

I spent the morning scouring some vintage shops in town (no bargains to be found..boo!) and later I cant wait to wind down with a pretty sunset and some wine (or a cocktail or two...) What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope this week has been treating everyone great! I actually cant believe it is Thursday already and almost the weekend again! I haven't been up to much just working and scouring the internet for interesting ideas! This weekend we will be doing another little DIY. I have an antique wooden vanity that needs to be sanded down and then painted white so it can go in the bedroom. I have been doing makeup in the bathroom and it is an absolute nightmare so I really cant wait to sit down at a pretty table, I am sure that will inspire some more makeup looks!

Look of the day - Sunshine Girl

I really needed to get back into being active again so yesterday we went to go sign up at the gym! I know most people do this around new year and then never go but we actually really love working out so I dont think that will be an issue. We also started eating lots of healthy fruit and veggies again, yay for the new year!

This is the first time I have bought from Asos after moving to South Africa so I hope I wont be to shocked when the package arrives because sometimes custom charges can be really really bad :(

One of my resolutions this year is to make more youtube videos so I have started it off with an everyday makeup video! I usually do this look but will change my lipstick every now and then!
It is a really soft easy smokey eye with black liner and then some bronzer and shimmer on the cheeks.

It is 2012 and still I just cant get away from the bling! These skinny jeggings from bershka have become a real staple and mixing it with everything from flats to my sky high bling blings makes total sense! I do wish though I had bought a pair in every color but now I know for next time right (ohhhh I hope there will be a next time!)

Today is the last official day of the holidays for me and already I feel the need to travel. It might be that every year this time it would be time for me to get back on the plane to Malta but I think I can feel an adventure coming up soon so I wont worry to much! x

Last of the Holiday Snaps

I cant believe it is the second of January! All good things must come to an end some or other time though and now that all the holiday play is over it is time for some serious work starting with a blog revamp! I have been wanting to do this for a while but the new year seems like the perfect excuse!

Here are the last pics of our mini break in Hermanus. The weather was fantastic and I just loved lying around in the lagoon. I definitely want to visit again and for longer as we only stayed to two nights.

Summer Sun & Fun in Hermanus

We just returned from a fun filled few days in Hermanus! It was filled with BBQ's lots of swimming and sun and I am so sad that it was so very short.

MAC Dazzlesphere in Plum Ornament

My amazing boyfriend bought me a MAC dazzlesphere as one of my stocking fillers. I didnt even know about this collection (shock horror!) but obviously he spends more time at MAC than I do... hmmmmm :P
Anyway, he bought the plum ornament with the pigment inside and I love it!

The colors are Misty, Seasonal Cool. Grape and Light Violet. At the moment I think Seasonal cool is my favorite color as I feel it is most versatile and could be worn during the day or at night.

We actually took these photos a few days before Christmas but I have only had time to blog about them now! I wore a relaxed outfit as we went out for dinner and afterwards we stopped in Seapoint for some pics as the sun was setting!

Knits, faux leather and black might not seem like a great combo for summer but it felt light and was sophisticated but relaxed enough to go out for dinner in. I think the hint of leopard print and gold mixed
with the interesting textures of the shorts and sweater made for a simple yet striking outfit.

We have been buying loads of stuff for our apartment since we have come back so I wanted a low key Christmas but Michael still insisted on spoiling me with some amazing goodies! I also got some apartment theme pressies from my mom and I absolutely love everything and feel so grateful!

I got these black heels just before Christmas as a pre Christmas gift from Michael as I wanted to wear them on Christmas eve with my black skater dress. The love sign my mom bought for me and I am planning to put it above our bed!

Michael bought me this absolutely crazy amazing fashion book on all the top designers and it is so heavy I cant even pick it up with one hand. I have been wanting this @ sign for ages and once we have our floating shelves up it will be next to all my fashion books!

Yay for a new pink and black wireless mouse! My other mouse was quite icky so I am so happy to have this cute one to sit on our desk.

I actually have quite a funny story about these photos, while we were taking them a man and woman walked past us on the path and when the woman saw me she stopped behind Michael and took photos of me with her cellphone. I am not sure if she was a follower (she didnt say hi) or what but it was very very akward and strange and the first time something like that has happened to me!

We have been so busy and I cant believe that it is almost Christmas, I feel like I havent done anything that needed to be done and time is just going WAY to fast!

I thought it would be fun to do my outfit post in front of our Christmas tree instead of outside today. My decor is mostly monochrome with touches of color here and there so I am almost emulating this in my outfit and I added a pop of bright pink.

Christmas in South Africa is usually hot and bright and happy. A lot of the shops dont do the traditional green and red and gold etc decorations but sometimes they give it more of a summer vibe with multicolored lights and bright decorations. This year my favorite shops Woolworths and @Home had very silver sparkly themes which I love and fit in very well with our place!

I love holiday decor and for the last 4 years we have not spent Christmas in our apartment so we had nothing to decorate! I definitely feel like a Christmas elf with these white, red and green photos although I doubt elves have a soft spot for leopard print! The weather has been super weird and cold for this time of the year though and soon after going outside dressed like this I regretted it. It even started raining later so I was very glad that I didn't spend the whole day out and about.

It was my nephews second birthday over the weekend and on Thursday and Friday we made him a cool lightening mcqueen birthday cake(check it out here). It took us so long and we were very tired afterwards but the look of joy on his face when he saw it made it all worth it!

We had the most perfect day in Cape Town over the weekend and we decided to take a nice drive up Chapmans Peak with the top down. I love the feeling of the wind blowing through my hair and the sun shining down, absolute bliss!

This weekend was quite eventful and lots of fun! I saw Breaking Dawn at last *YAY* and also went on lots of other little outings including going to World of Birds in Hout bay. I have never been and I have always wanted to go see the monkeys that they have there (birds are actually not my top fave thing, you cant even cuddle them! :P)

I ended up having a monkey sit on my head and took loads and loads of photos. They are so sneaky you actually have to take off jewelry, sunglasses etc so that they dont steal them :P They were so cute when they looked into our camera lenses I seriously wanted to squash one into my handbag to take home!

Sometimes I just want to look fun and cute and not take myself seriously at all. Yesterday was one of those days. Navy and pink just popped into my head and felt like such a fun combination. It is amazing that I could wear that yesterday and last night I got woken up with crazy thunder, wind and rain! Yesterday the wind started blowing and I think it has just gotten worse and worse. Cape Town gets really bad wind this time of year and it makes taking outfit posts out and about almost impossible sometimes. We did however manage to get a few shots in Sea Point before almost getting blown into the sea! :P

On Friday we were lucky enough to go to The Grand on the beach (one of Cape Town's hottest summer hang outs) for a party sponsored by Jack Daniels. We had a stunning three course meal, an amazing setting and as much Jack Daniels as we wanted. I drank mine with cranberry juice and even had a mojito made with it and as a non whiskey drinker I must say I was very surprised at how nice it was.

We had live music and afterwards we chilled down at the water with a light salty breeze ending off a perfect afternoon!

Even though the wind was howling and I ended up with hair in my face more than anything else I quite liked the beachy look it created with my curls. I have been wearing my hair wavy a lot more since moving to South Africa and I really think it just suits me here (and they stay in longer)

We have been so busy with our new apartment recently and even though some of it has been hard work it is really fun to scout for ideas and find items that you love!

I am really into anything crystal, silver, black and white with some natural wood and cream colors and textures thrown in. I think the earthy tones really balance out the harshness of the black and silver!

These colors also work perfectly now for Christmas and I cant wait to put up Christmas decorations! :)

Look of the day - Shorts for Summer

On Saturday it was extremely hot, on Sunday we had cold wet weather and today we are having both in one! That is Cape Town for you, sometimes we can have all four seasons in one day! :P It makes for interesting outfits though, you either freeze in the morning wearing a little bit of clothes and then you are fine for later or you are fine in the morning and hot later :P All is good though and I am busier than I have been in 4 years!

Last night I could hardly move after all the heavy lifting I have done over the weekend but it is all worth it as we got our desk sorted at last! It looks great and after a few finishing touches I will take some pics that I can post.

Yesterday we went out to get some goodies for our apartment and ended up having to carry a 3 meter desk top up two flights of stairs wish was a huge mission as it was very very heavy and it didnt really fit in the stairwell! Today I have cuts and marks all over my hands and guess what, the top is more than 3 meters and it doesnt fit where we want it...

I am sure everything will work our but it was really frustrating as it is going to be our desk (it will look something like this)Hopefully we will get that up this week as well as a dining room table and some frames with our own photography above our bed! I cant wait to show all of you when we have a more cohesive look going :P

Look of the day - Autumn colors in Spring weather

I did a lot of "Autumn shades" outfit post when we were still in Malta but Autumn colors are definitely not restricted to colder weather. I loved how the leopard print, orange, yellow and nude colors looked on a sunny day without jackets and boots to keep away the crisp air.

With all the yummy food we have in South Africa it has been difficult to resist temptation but it has also been amazing taking walks along the beach in the morning and then again near the mountain later in the afternoon, I absolutely love being surrounded by nature again! I hope I can take my camera with one one of my walks soon so I can show you all how pretty it is :)

Look of the day - Fresh Morning

We needed to leave early this morning to go run some errands and fetch our crate (YAY) so we took some early morning photos and I love how they came out. Everything just seemed so bright and fresh. I also tried something new with my hair. I curled it with my curling tong but I didnt open the clamp I used it as a wand. It was so easy and quick and I love the result. No crispy ends!

I wore my Mr Price wedges again today and wore them with a dress as suggested by Lippylash and they look so cute especially with the jacket! (I am sooo matchy matchy!)

I bought a pair of super cute turquoise and blue wedges from Mr Price over the weekend. I adore these because they are striking comfortable and not to high for everyday walking! I paired the very bright turquoise colors with some neutrals to make them seem crisp and clean and i just loved the outcome.

We also bought new bedside lamps with faux ostrich leather lamp shades and crystal and silver lamp bases. I cant wait to put all the little touches in our apartment that I have been dreaming about! :)

Yesterday I went shopping yay! Didn't take me to long right? :) I just bought a few things mostly looking for goodies for the apartment but ending up buying goodies for me!
I got these cute wedges from Mr Price (its like Primark of SA) and then I also got cute polka dot shorts there. I needed a new vanity mirror and I saw this one at Mr Price home and fell totally in love! My mom also bought me a cute princess sign. I cant tell you all how good it is to be back home!

We are almost finished packing up and I cant actually believe we are flying home on Tuesday! We have been in Malta for three and a half years so it is definitely going to be strange to be back home but its a new adventure and I cant wait. I wont have any internet tomorrow but I will try and take photos and make some videos that I can upload as soon as we get back Cape Town. Thank you so much for being with in on my little Malta adventure and I hope you will stick around to see Cape Town with me! xx

Sugar Skull Makeup

I absolutely fell in love with these pictures from a Planet Blue campaign when I saw them on Oracle Fox. Just a few days ago I actually did a tutorial on doing Sugar skull makeup for Halloween and i did a purple and black look (see below)

Packing ,packing ,packing and more packing is almost all I have on my mind at the moment! I am trying to switch off and focus on other things but that might not be the best idea! :P Yesterday I packed up my makeup room. I am basically giving most of it away and just taking my favorite makeup items with that I use all the time. Its a good excuse to go for a bit of a shopping trip back home anyway! :) Today I need to sort out the other rooms and start seeing what need to go where. Not looking forward to it but it needs to be done.

Next week this time you will already be seeing new location outfit shoots, yay! So excited! :)

These photos are actually from Saturday and it was quite drizzly and miserable! We did go out for cake and coffee though and also for a walk on the rocks where we took some photos! We came across this piece of fabric that was still up at a restaurant/bar which is closed for the winter and i thought it would make a great backdrop for photos!

Today I spent most of the day working on a youtube Halloween tutorial. I wasnt planning on doing any but then I got this idea and really wanted to try it out! :) I will upload it later tonight hopefully!

Autumn Loves

Today we went for a little walk and even though the weather wasn't really that cold or crisp you could still see Autumn all around. I took a few photos of leaves as they look so pretty! I miss Autumn in South Africa where you see pretty colored leaves everywhere!

I thought I would list some things I love about Autumn!
Stepping on dry leaves and hearing them crackle
Making and eating yummy butternut squash soup (I am making some tonight!)
Being able to snuggle in bed after a hot summer of sleeping under sheets.
Drinking more hot drinks
Wearing Autumn colored clothes
Crisp smell outside in the evenings

The story of us

Nine years ago today I was sitting in my parents lounge area with a guy I had known for a month. I was 18 and he was 23. He asked me if I wanted to be more than just friends and I asked him what he meant (silly girl) He asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend and I said yes. All this over a cup of coffee on the couch. Nine years later we still love coffee and chilling on couches but more than that we still love each other and that's saying something :)

I have basically spent my whole adult life with him and we have had plenty of adventures and hopefully plenty more to come. We have molded each other and seem to be one person at times. He is my boyfriend my photographer and most of all my best friend.

I did a lipstick post a while back but as I get asked what lipsticks I wear most of the time I thought it would be good to do another one with a video! I tend to wear only a few lipsticks until they are finished instead of buying loads so my favorites stay around for quite a while!

I also wanted to know what your all time favorite must have lipsticks are (high end or drugstore) as I might be planning a bit of duty free shopping in Dubai and definitely some more when I get back home!

Since the time these were taken at lunch time till now the weather has gone quite strange. Very very still with dark clouds hanging over the sea. I think there is a storm brewing. I actually really like the calm bit before a big thunder storm. Everything just looks different and you never know when that first bit of lightning will strike the sea!

I haven't been doing anything interesting this past week, mostly getting stuff ready for us before we leave but this weekend we have lots of things planned! We want to do some Halloween type shoots and videos even though I don't really ever get dressed up and all of those things I am such a sucker for any type of fun festive holiday. It is also our 9 year anniversary on Saturday which is so crazy. It seems like just yesterday we met on the beach!

Look of the day - Nautical Twist

It was a really gorgeous day here so I just had to wear a long floaty skirt to reflect my mood! I went for kind of a nautical look but decided to incorporate some unexpected bits like a leopard print belt and a mustard handbag.

I made another outfit video (see bottom of my post) and added in a little bit of the view from our balcony so everyone could see the lovely weather. our new apartment will also have a amazing sea view but it will be from the foot of a mountain and not so close so I will definitely miss this.
